Title: What have you got on order?
Post by: JohnnyMac on August 27, 2013, 07:01:27 PM
Things have been pretty quiet around here lately as far as flashlight things go.  What are you guys waiting for arrival in your mailbox?  Surely there are quite a few goodies winging there way to you from your favorite online vendors.

I'm waiting on a TR-J19 from Fasttech as well as some King Kongs and some Panasonic PD's.  I also have an ML-102 charger and some 26650 storage cases coming from them.

From I-O I have some XM-L2 U2 1C on Noctigons coming to be used in the TR-J19 once it arrives and from CNQG I have a couple of DRY drivers coming.  One of them is for use in the J19.  ;D

I'm waiting for one of those 18650 recoil lights, from Ebay.

I'm also about to order a ML-102 and some unprotected Panasonics from FastTech for my new Convoy S5! ^^

I've got a dedomed dry drivered j19 on the way, some 32650 cells, charger (tr 008?) a c8 for some throw testing,  some 26650 cells, some 18650 cells, two vaping kits, two s4 hosts and some modding bits from fasttech, I need to get a soldering station on pay day and I'm probably going to order one of lck led's skyray king drivers for modding my supfire m6.

I also need to get back in the shop to finish the l2's I'm on with, oh, I'm hoping I've won a fluke 117 on ebay, if not, I'll be asking my American friends to price one for me from over there as my dmm is irreparable :'(

American friends can come in handy at times. Have you a link to the batteries and charger? I've been curious about the 32650 cells, just not sure on there capacity as there is little info available on them.

Hmm,

Another J-19, two king kongs and a charger from fast tech.

X7-thrower and terminator clone from Tmart (they gave me a 25% coupon so they were cheap and are getting major upgrades)

BTU Shocker from Ric's Aliexpress account $87 gonna mod this one.

J-18, yezl 10400 mini, and a Q5 from wallbuys instant kill

3 dry drivers from Ric at Fancy flashlights

11 XM-L2 U2 1c's on noctigons from IO and a 7x driver (for the J-18 that is getting XM-L2's from the J-19 mods)

aspheric lens for the X7

The dearly departed sacrificed to my addiction for the above.

the J-19 mod that I posted pics of

Terminator

18sixfifty, what mods are you planning for your Terminator?  I have two of them and have been wanting to mod one of them.  I've been thinking of swapping in XM-L2 U2 on Noctigons but am not sure what to do with the driver itself.  It comes out easily for upgrades but I'm clueless as to what resistor mods we can do to it.  Are you planning on modding the stock driver or swapping it out completely for something else?

I have a money order, Lux-RC light (was a gift, can't possibly afford half a thousand on a light), clone iPhone case, some other little stuff I think.

@ JM

The Clone I'm getting is one of those goofy Rage ones that turns on one emitter and then two and then four. I sold my Terminator because I couldn't really see anyway of upgrading it that I thought was worth the trouble. It was pretty well set up stock. Well I'm sure that noctigons would help with the thermal sag but it's not that bad anyway.

With the coupon they sent me it was $35.

http://www.tmart.com/TP-4ST-U2-3500LM-4-LED-4-Mode-Hand-held-Aluminum-Flashlight-Black_p208264.html

It's going to get Noctigons for sure, de-domed maybe and I have no idea yet what I'll do with the driver until I see it. Most likely the driver will get wiped completely clean and used to slave something else entirely. I will probably mod the battery compartment to 2S2P so I can use one of the  better drivers.

I didn't want to use the Terminator as simply a host so it's flying via carrier pigeon to Australia.

Holy cow!  Just $46 for that clone?  That's cheap as heck even if it not to the same standards as the original.  Bezels look aluminum instead of stainless and the driver is definitely not the same but it looks like a great place to start as a mod host!  Since the SRK battery tube screws into the Terminator (and possibly this clone), TexasPyro's new SRK driver might fit inside perfectly.

It would be sweet if his driver works for it. I'll know when it shows up. I just got the shipping notification yesterday. I'll stop in and let you know if it does. If so I might just do that instead of trying to slave it.

Not that I know of but I would be able to tell the size of the driver when I get the light.

Those batteries seem orsm under heavy loads. I think I heard your better half saying its about time you got yourself a hobby charger.

Discharge rate/Mah
2 amp = 5580
4 amp = 5559
5 amp = 5501
10 amp = 5384!

already got one lol, just not got into getting it rigged up for round cell charging yet. I like the plug and play approach at the moment.

I did get a soldering station today.

I wish I'd got one a long time ago, un mounted and remounted an emitter no problem and it still worked afterwards,  I can set three temps for one button set up or vary it as I please,  it also uses the 900m tips which I think are the hako standard.

Next time you have some spare cash,  this might be a very good investment.

Very nice gords. Now you will have to get lots of different tips to try. Not that I'm much good at soldering I was having trouble with the pointy tips and in frustration ground the end into a small radius which holds the heat 10000 times better. Its amazing how cheap these irons are for what you get.
Title: Re: What have you got on order?
Post by: gords1001 on September 01, 2013, 05:26:10 PM
I did have to mod this a bit, the stem around the element was too long to allow the tip retainer to screw on, a quick run with  a pipe cutter cured that.

Otherwise,  I'm pretty good tbh, I served my time as an electrician and used to have to solder lots of 32 pin d sockets and sensor sockets, drivers are no smaller I've found, but I will be stocking up on different tips to try out.

The only time I am not glad for my Aoyue 936 is when I'm using it for something I shouldn't.

its easy enough to get, take about 75 quid to maplin,  buy iron, tips and solder and your done. It is very nice for a hobbiest, dunno about longevity yet, but it's mostly rebuilbable anyway.

I'm heading out into the gords cave tonight whilst toni watches all the usual crap on telly, so I'll have a good play I think.

I have a few T6 4C stars on order from FT... taking too long... already a month (thought about adding 1 in my Nitecore EA8, but already lost my patience on that one, and is for sale)
and the same for some 22AWG wire from Intl.Outdoor... both are really slow!!! (also for the nitecore, but no meaning anymore)

another 3 stars XPG2 from Fasttech... ordered 2 weeks ago..

what else? oh.. a magic cube from Wallies, because I just wanted to get a deal, and tried my luck and speed on a cube, and won one..  :D

Only because the distributor offers a 60 day money-back guarantee, and that ALL 21 Amazon reviews on this light are given 5 stars!!! ...... I'm taking a chance on this 14500 light called a "USpot". All it says is that it's a 5w Tactical CREE LED (which is said to have adjustable focus). It also COMES with the battery! It has 4 modes -- bright, very bright, strobe and SOS. Doesn't say much about lumens, except that it's OVER 150 (I assuming it's somewhat dim).

I heard about it through a press release that Google sent me. And I'm only getting it because it's cheap...and because it can be returned. I'm also curious about all the 5 star reviews.

I'll probably write about it for my website. Might even do a YouTube video!

Fascinating that they'd include a 14500 battery and not appear to know about chargers (see the QA near the bottom of the listing...). If you have the ability to determine the battery's capacity, that would be great information.

Looking forward to your review.

(edit) looked again, and it seems like you plug a wallwart into the flashlight to charge it, which is more frightening than I can imagine...

Two lights on order: 1. P60vn light engine quad XHP35 16 volt, 4*18350 body,

and 2.  Acebeam X65vn.

Ordered because: 1. Maximum power for its size, and

2. Largest amount of combination of throw and power.

I am very excited about these two lights.

I ordered a Zebralight SC62w today, with two 18650 protected cells from them as well.

I had not ordered any new lights in several years, until this autumn, when I decided to update my flashlight supply and take advantage of Li-Ion's for the first time in years.  My only other Zebralight is a first generation SC52, so I'm looking forward to these two new lights very much - when they get here.

I've been looking for a nice little (not tiny)
LED torch for general use round home.
Power out emergency's and in car.

Have gone through the MXDL.  Sky-Ray XML-T6 (My most fav. Comfortable to use.)
V-Life. Skywolfeye, TLY-S21, and several others.
ALL cheapies, but with decent battery all work well.

Latest. and by far the best.Is a $10.45 del from China.
L2. that's it.(XML-L2) had for a month.
MUCH brighter than others. Ran on max for 40 mins. Battery went from 4,21 to 3.85
on Multimeter.
and still near ZERO heat in either heat sink or battery itself.

Well Made. smooth zoom action , Side sw. with internal charger..
I've ordered 2 more with Panasonic 3400 18650 Unprotected cells to go with them
2 pack, $20 del from China.

Hopefully I've found the one. Donate the rest.

One I'm disappointed in.

Underwater??  ELFELAND  3.7v. with 3 x XML T6 led's and 2 x 18650 cells.
Strong varied \not directional beam. runs very hot.
Had to turn off after 20 min's.
Panasonic cells were just as hot internally too.
You'd need 2 x if going anywhere, to use alternately and allow cooling.
Have ordered a 3 x T2 LED version.
Hopefully it'll run as cool as single version with same x 3 brightness.

Mate has work torches $85\125 ea.
Neither are any better. beam width\depth, or distance range. than this "L2"?
for $10.45.del.

How do they do it.
You can get Panasonic\Sony\LG etc Battery's in Aust for only a few $$'s more than O\Seas.
Why not the torches?.

I've had this Sky-Ray T6 for 4ish yrs. Magic small torch for $8.75 del.
INCL Battery. charger and sheath.
You will NOT find a better small general local area use torch anywhere for any price.
Plus really fits nice in hand.

Just received the shipping notice for my Zebralight H600w Mk II. Grabbed it while they were available on sale, but it looks like the neutral tint version is no longer available on the company's website. I bought a Foursevens Quark Deep Pocket Clip to use with it.
