Batteries that don't die!!
« on: March 31, 2018, 02:45:17 AM »
My boyfriend was given a cheap flashlight/jump pack by a friend. When you open the battery cover, it takes an 18650. Normally the flashlight would last about 3 hours on a full charge (1 LED). It was left in the pocket of his pants and made a trip through the washer. When he went to swap clothes in the dryer he noticed it because the flashlight was on. He then put it aside leaving the light on. Since then, we have not plugged it in or really messed with it at all. It has now been going for 6 days!! How is this possible?? Its the ongoing joke here that he has accidentally created a never ending battery. I should note that the insulator ring started peeling off. Any ideas on how this is even possible???

Welcome aboard trapmom.

That is what is known as a vampire light. One that runs and runs and runs, then runs some more.

Definitely a keeper for those times when for what ever reason the 'all night generator' isn't working in your city or neighborhood.

1865 batteries are capable of storing an impressive amount of energy.  LED flashlights on a low lumen setting use very little energy compared to an incandescent light with the same brightness.  There are many camping lanterns that claim a two week or even a forty day run time.

Still going strong. Whats weird is that it's never lasted more than 3 hours before this.
