Search box not working?
« on: November 03, 2013, 01:42:20 PM »
The search box on the front page has some issues:
1. I can't activate it for writing (using Chrome on Win7)
2. It loads slowly => recent posts step down when search box is finally loaded => click may go to wrong thread

Could it be simply removed?

You mean the google custom search box ? I just tried that and it works okay for me using Win7 with Chrome. Weird...

Just did some thorough testing with it and can't find any problems. I'm not sure why it's playing up for you

Ok, figured it out: It's about the window size..

Too narrow window -> narrow box -> can't activate for writing:

Wider window -> wider box -> can activate for writing:

Ahh you know I had no clue that a narrow window would stop text activation in there. It's a bit of a pain with the custom search box as they heavily limit what you're able to do with sizing etc.

I'll go and have a play as I may be able to remove the outer border so it's more friendly for smaller browser windows.

Glad you figured it out though and thanks for bringing it up. :)

Thanks!

While you are at it, could you also add a some kind of placeholder with the same size, so that it would not suddenly move recent topics down when it appears later (over a slow connection)?

I see what you mean. Unfortunately I can't find a way of forcing placeholders for unloaded content within the HTML blocks so I've moving it to the right hand side as it won't affect the recent posts block over there.

What do you think ?
