I contacted Vestureofblood also - he ordered one and is going to look at the possibility of a copper pill :)

I've considered one of these and if VOB was definitely making a copper pill for it I would likely do it but with the regular price on the light being just $2 or $3 more I will just wait to see what he does. ;)

I cant recall anyone modding this for the MTG-2. Has anyone seen one keeping in mind the battery carrier would have to be modded as I believe without looking at it that its parallel?
When the big picture is to big, look for a point you can start at and build from there.

I bought a couple of them and I'm getting a free one too. I'm getting a sample for helping a bunch of people mod theirs. Gearbest really seems to be the deal for these group buys at least right now.

On a side note, I'm not deliberately staying away from this place. My internet has been absolute garbage for over a month now. Three techs have been out so far and can't figure it out. I have a telephone linesman that is supposed to be out tomorrow and look at the lines. Fun Fun Fun. I am getting just enough internet to check e-mails and post a little bit here and there and that is it.

I have a 3 on the way (had one already and two more from GB). I plan to design new boards for mine to be a 3s buck driver using components from an HX-1175b driver. The driver/upper series contact plate will be one board and then either mod the factory tail plate or make a new one for 3S. This should drive either a 3v or 6v emitter ~8A.

If you are indeed serious about this then I may have to buy one of these for that driver. :D  Not being series driven is why I've been avoiding the purchase of one of these.

you could still convert the stock driver to a contact plate and use a fet?

or just convert to series :)

Change of plans, no more stripping HX-1175b's. I've got a totally new circuit design based of the max16820 buck chip.

The current will be adjustable to ~8A (on both 3 and 6v emitters) using a pair of 2502 sense resistors. The component count wi be surprisingly low (read cheap to build).

JMP to clarify your asking for a series contact plate with no components on the top? That's simple, I can do that now if someone can provide detail measurements then upload it to OSHPark and share for you guys to order now. All I need is the diameter (shape of not perfectly round) and the diameter of the circle the battery contacts need to be (measured center to center).

If someone can send me a 1:1 scan I can take the measurements myself.

Dan, you are freaking amazing, brother!  If you make a driver like described you will sell a crap load!  I will buy a few for sure!!

Do you have any thoughts on how to integrate a sliding, infinitely adjustable magnetic switch with a good FET driver capable of driving 7 XM-L?
