Title: What did you get today ?
Post by: jacktheclipper on August 09, 2013, 02:56:01 PM
I got three more Enlan EL01s today . Can't say I'm fond of the new pivot screws , but a drill chuck will be useful for adjusting them .

To me , the Enlan EL01 is the epitome of quality budget knives .  Well designed , well machined , and a sturdy blade that's easily sharpened .

I got these from a member on BLF who took pity on my absurdly inadequate soldering skills. They come complete with two extra chips and heavy wires.

My two DRY drivers arrived from CNQG today.  My ML-102 supposedly was delivered yesterday along with a couple phone cases for a friend but no one at home say's it was in the mail. :(
Title: Re: What did you get today ?
Post by: JohnnyMac on September 03, 2013, 04:31:12 PM
My ML-102 did arrive as hoped.  It's a grewat little charger and even works perfectly as a flashlight with my Xtar UL1 attached to it.  The only problem with it is there are no springs for the battery connections and only unprotected 18650 cells fit in it.  THere is no way to charge a protected cell due to strict cell length limitations.

On Saturday my Trustfire TR-J19 arrived.  What a monster!  This thing is as heavy as my TR-S700 and built just as nice.  The driver sucks but it's still very bright but it's getting replaced so it doesn't matter.  The beam is amazing for a triple XM-L2.  The hotspot is only about 5 inches across from 6 feet away.  Extremely focused and bright in the center.  Once I have the DRY driver installed along with dedomed XM-L2 on Noctigons and upgraded wiring it will be a monster in output as well as size.

Today some batteries from FT are arriving at home. 4 Panasonic 18650PD cells and 4 KK ICR26650 cells.  w00t!

Spill the beans gords whats there? There does not happen to be a couple of 32650 batteries by any chance? If so would it be possible to get a n accurate measurement of the OD and length. I dont expect to get mine in the next six months. Cheers.
Title: Re: What did you get today ?
Post by: gords1001 on September 21, 2013, 07:42:48 PM
there are infact four 32650 cells, a trustfire tr008 charger,  four trustfire flame 26650's,  four Panasonic pd's,  two ncr18650 cells, two convoy s4 hosts, five tir optics, ten nanjg to 20mm boards,  lots of thermal pads, springs, twp ecig set ups, oils.

I'll havr to come back on measurements,  they fit fine in the tr008, I'm happy with that too, looks like it is 1.3a/channel,  I can live with that.

its almost dark now so I'm looking forward to trying out my trj19,  its just far too sketchy on 18650 cells.

My 32650 batteries got sent back to Fasttech. I've asked them if there is any other way to ship them. I started a new monster build yesterday that will be using these batteries. Bugger.
Title: Re: What did you get today ?
Post by: gords1001 on September 22, 2013, 01:23:13 PM
they are a snug fit in my trj19,  I'm going to run a boring bar down the battery tube and skim a mil or so pff so they drop in.

I'll try and get measurements tonight, I'm off out swimming with the little 'uns, try out their new haircuts.

nonr at all. lukes so well behaved, he lost a pile of hair but toni wont let janes' hair be cut so he lost about half an inch.

I'll get the vernier out tomorrow and get some measurements.  swimming was cool, lukes swimming bettee than some four year olds, which bothers the life gaurds, they get really tetchy when he just chucks himself in, particularly since they panic, then he's back up and off swimming on his own lol

chloe,  thise two cartoons are nowhere near the truth.

1. To give an example,  within three days they had found a weak spot in the landing wall.  it is now down to the brickwork. ....they broke a dammed wall.  in twelve months they have broken a flat screen telly, a Samsung galaxy s3,  15!! I'll repeat that, 15! phone chargers, countless toys, the water feature, twice, two dining room chairs, posted a remote control in the bin.....gone, lost my favourite house torch, lost my house allen key set, killed off all three orchids I got toni for various gifts, killed the climbers I planted in the garden, broke my van key.

2. They will do their best to prevent you sleeping,  then promptly fall asleep when you can't.

3. They will mess up a set of clothes within two minutes of getting them on given half a chance, you get ueed to the condescending looks from people who dont have kids......like your not fit to be a parent.

4. They will without fail, crap in a fresh nappy first thing in the morning,  morning nappy changes take two attempts.

5. They will eat something and love it, till the next time you try to get them to eat it.....

6 Never ever try to drive your car if you let them do this

till you have thoroughly checked every control

7. If they look like this

their up to something.

8. No matter what they do, they know how to be cute and ger round you in then end, even if they dont realise they know.

9. Silence is golden, unless you have toddlers,  if you have toddlers,  silence is very very suspicious.

10. luke turned one in may. this is a typical mornng

6am

Their bloody hard work but little moments like this

and this

make it all worthwhile.

LOL!  While it does seem to be a mandatory requirement for owning an H-D, I didn't get a pickup truck. :D  I only got a small '09 Kia because it was in great shape, the price was right, and the gas mileage suits my needs for my commute to and from work each day.  Perhaps I will need to get a hitch and a small trailer for it so I can tow the Harley when it breaks down. :P

y'know, that's one of the things that's really upsetting me about whats going on with our expected little one.

I'm likely to not have a cuddly little baby to enjoy this time, the prognosis is getting really bad now and its finally sinking in for toni.

the baby is now exhibiting clover leaf skull syndrome, along with all the other issues, like the chest barely being big enough for the heart, let alone the lungs and all the bits that are currently not in there.

We had a tour of the special treatment ward last Thursday,  they were polite enough not to say its likely we wouldn't be there for long, and not in a good way either, but that was the underlying tone of things. The doctor also point blank said "we can still stop the heart if you change your minds" he's pretty adamant that would be for the best, I don't think he realises it would be the worst thing for us with regards to actually dealing with the inevitable tradgedy we are going to experience.

I got a 6xSRK that I ordered from e-bay today. Meh.. I wish I had know that Fast Tech was going to have one with XM-L2's. I got mine for $34 so the price was right and they shipped it very fast. Those e-packages show up fast. It's wired parallel and the driver isn't too bad. It's not a triple teroid driver. It's one teroid and a  large capacitor. Different than I have seen before. I'm waiting on XP-G2's that are going to go into it. I'll also be adding some heat sinking.

All in all it's an ok light the hot spot is huge but not overly floody really and there is a pretty bad ring in the middle of the beam profile. If not for the ring I would have really liked it, but that is the one thing that puts me off of lights more than anything. I'm almost tempted to put an MT-G2 in it instead. I have a reflector that fits it so if the XP-G2's don't give me a better beam profile then that is what I'll do.

Pretty damned impressive!  It really is the perfect compromise between the TN30 and the TN31 when you only have room for 1 light.

I will tell you what really impresses me aside from the TN35 and the charger...everything! the TN12?  WOW!  Momentary on in any mode, mode changes via electronic side switch up from where it should be, 5 modes, insanely bright on turbo, compact size and super comfy to hold.  I am impressed!

The T10S I never even knew they had.  Again...impressive!  Not in brightness (around 180-200 OTF) but in construction and quality.  Brilliant little light!

The Lynx...built like a brick sh!t house.  Very bright, very durable feeling, unique switch in construction and feel, 4 modes including a momentary position plus 3 other customizable modes in any order and brightness or strobe that you want.

Every one of the lights has gorgeous tint and a perfect beam with smooth spills and tight hotspots.  ThruNite is ramping things up!

That  imalent light sounds really cool.

I got in 3 warriors, a couple 5x SRK's. 25 cheap C8's ($3 each). The C8's are old Q5 ones but the reflectors are perfect for de-domed XP-G2's. They take a 20mm star too so that is cool. I'm putting 5amp FET drivers in them. I got 5 SP03's from Blackshadow last week. $56 each delivered for them if you buy 5. Also got in a bunch of drivers, emitters and stars.

Dude, that is a massive haul! I was looking at Warrior prices the other day and it seems they have gone up in price. $50-$60 each. Glad I got mine when they first came out for around $35-$40.
Title: Re: What did you get today ?
Post by: 18sixfifty on July 08, 2014, 09:17:52 AM
Wallbuys had them for $30 each on their group buy. They were marked solarstorm as well. Not that the light is different just that some people don't like the fandyfire label.

I've got a couple of those 15x lights coming from Tmart as well. Hopefully they have the same driver as the 12x that I got from lightscastle. I used their $20 off a hundred dollar purchase for them. Knocked it down to $42.50 each. That and I picked up two HD2010's from them as well and used the $9 off coupon. Dropped them down to $21. I'm putting in the 5amp FET drivers from lightmalls

I'll be modding another warrior in a few days, when I do I'll try and remember to take some pics and post it here. I'll be adding the heatsinking and post that method as well.

I recieved two of these today.

One had the led out about 2mm and the other under half a mm. I stripped the bad one and heated the pill up in a pan on the stove to move the star. It took a couple of goes but it is now about half a mm out where it will stay. Again these lights amaze me with there efficiency. My group buy direct drive C8 with XML-2 measures 3.7 amps at the tailcap. The XinTD measures 3 amps. Guess which is brighter at 8.64 meters to the light meter. The XinTD is 25% brighter.

Before modding. The pill was heated and the star pushed down. I could not quite get it far enough.

After modding.

Sorry, only the one of the pill. The rest of the pictures I took were unknown to me at the time all blurry. It looked bad though. To unsolder and resolder the driver in the pill I had to use my 100 watt soldering iron as the heat was getting sucked straight into the pill. I went for an extended walk with it last night and it worked perfectly. I'm not a fan of the tint though, I think it must be 3C. I have a few lights with this tint led and they do vary quite a bit.

I got my package from AWT yesterday. They delayed sending it in the first place because Vivian wanted to send me the new 75A 26650 cells they just released and the darn shipping newbie they have neglected to include them anyway. Argh!!

Oh well. Still a ton of awesome cells and I really dig the one charger with the internal resistance tester!

Today I got 3 OSHPark orders: 6* 10dd v1.0 (the new style with C1 moved), 3* BLF SK68's, 6* of my new 17dd design that can be programmed without being uninstalled from the light/pill. Notice the extra via's to accept header pins.

From MtnElectronics I got 2* XP16's, 2* XM-L2 U2 1A's and a 1D and 2* 10440's.

Oh the case below it is new to but I just built it, not bought it (cause I'm cheap). Its a standard plastic divided case (18 sections) but I wrapped it in recycled ESD protection bag with Al tape at the edges to seal it tight to keep my emitters and MCU's safe. I haven't had any problems with emitters yet but I have lost a couple MCU's recently.

Here's a test I did on the 10440's
this is a battery tester my uncle built me, each switch adds a 1.5 ohm, 50watt resistor in parallel. the meter is over a 75mv shunt, it can run up to 8.5V (I also tested a string of 4S AA eneloops at 14A before this!)

and here's the little efest out of the box doing 9A, I bet with a few cycles it'll do 10A, of course with zero run time but hey...

Is there a way to get it to show as text instead of the direct link, you know how on BLF you can type what you want (like "click here") and then select the word "here" then got the hyperlink button and enter the address then when you submit the post readers can simply click the word "here" instead of the displayed full web address. Is there a way to do that here?

What is the name of this forum SW?

If you click on the far right bottom box you can then use the hyperlink button which is to the right of insert picture. You will need to highlight the typing you want to turn into a hyper link.

This was the mystery DHL I've been wondering about, it wasn't the Yezl Y3 (which would have tickled me much more) or the Strider clone from FastTech (which would've given me something to play with)

Got this pair of Z1's in 5 days from solarforce-sales (ordered the 13th!).

The machining and F&F is perfect but if I was buying these as lights and not hosts I would not accept them, the drivers take at lease a full second to switch modes after you tap the reverse clicky and they only do 190Lm at startup, 30sec in they've dropped to 167.  Other than that ano is perfect, body and threads are perfect, AR glass and reflectors are perfect, they're great hosts, plus I get to pull the XP-G2's for other stuff

Oh and it seems a P60 SS clip snuck into one of the boxes, both Z1 clips were loose in the package but inside of one of the taped up Z1 boxes was the P60 clip!

Shame about the stock drivers. It's did like that that makes me no real fan of Solarforce. Too many little things wrong. It seems the perfect ones are fewer than the flawed ones.

My buddy who's one of my best repeat customers ordered these for his wife and father in law. The one for his wife is getting an XP-L and a tame 15.17 driver with low voltage protection removed so it runs on CR123's, all he wants from it is ~500Lm so it has good runtime. The second for his father in law (who owns the machine shop he works at) is gonna be for 16340's, also with a 15.17 but not detuned and it's getting a triple XP-G2 (it only gonna run it about 4A on high). He has the optic right now drilling the legs for trit's and once he has the lights he's gonna install trits in both of the tails as well (my buddy is a CNC programmer but also runs a manual mill so that sort of stuff is his domain).

Well it doesn't really fit, you have to shave it down some and the driver gets soldered to the bottom edge of the pill, not in the pill. Comfy figured it out a few months back, I'm just copying him.

15.17 is the single side 15dd sized up to 17mm, the difference from a 17dd is it uses the same SOT-23 "baby FET" the 10/12/15 uses, not the big DPAK FET the 17/20 uses. Using the AO3400A the 15.17 (or any of the little ones) can do up to 5.8A so to keep it around 4-4.5A I'll have to use less than full value for the PWM-LVL.

Got this ultrafire side switch light from a generous member of BLF to use as a guinea pig for testing FW for my new PIC drivers, took me <70 minutes from the time it got here in the mail today till I had it running, including building the driver from a bare board and programming it. I have a 4-pin connector I'm going to add hang out the side where the charging port was to program without taking it apart (requires 5 connections but the PIC can be self powered making it only require 4).

Piggybacking like this is one of my favorite mod's.

Nice work CK.

I got in an ultafire UF-450. It's a little "diving" light. Triple XM-L2 with a dimming thumb switch on the side. It's about the same size as a C8 only longer. In fact the head is just a little smaller.  A new place sent it to me for review. I have to say I really dig it. 1,800 lumens, not bad really. When I get a chance I'll post the review.

Also got my DrJones ATTiny85 with his modified RGBW FW (modified for RGB only and dropped all battery monitor/capacity testing), 6 more SK68 drivers (have been very good sellers recently) and my 17mm CC RGBW e-switch drivers for tterev3's MELD_v2.9 FW.

I hope it works since I only ordered a single one, I've had a lot of static related issues with chips in the mail recently (which is why I've started to pay close attention to anti-static shipping and handling practices) so I'm hoping its ok.

Thanks man, cant wait for the rev2 boards, I'll use all brand new hardware on it (the 4 fet's on there are reused), that plus the revisions, it'll be pretty.

Got a 2nd i4 today, I needed a couple loaner chargers to go along with loaner lights I hand out, the i4 isn't the best charger but its in my opinion one of the safest and has no buttons to mess with, just stick any NiMH or Li-ion in and it takes care of the rest. Great for people with minimal safety training. Not new but I dig out my splitter thing to use the same 5A 12v PS on all 3 chargers  at once.

We need pics of that, Justin!  How much does it put out?

Today I ordered a couple copper quap XP MCPCBs and a pair of quad Carclo optics for them from Illumn.  I also ordered 8 XP-L 2A from Fasttech to go with them.  Well one of them at least for now.  4 for a quad build in a BLF X6 and 3 for a triple Noctigon build in another S2.  The other will go in a single emitter build TBD. :D

CK is going to build a couple FET drivers for me for the quad and triple builds.

Out for delivery!.... well see if i get the pink slip of death and have to wait the weekend to go pickup my shipment or not.

Ive waited 9 months for these!!

Theyre from VINZ in germany :)

One is a quad nichia 219b with osram red led in the enter (beacon while turned off) 4 group modes, fully programmable.

One is a blemished surefire tactical XML2 single mode drop in with a TIR (one large hotspot) - the blemish is a small black line on the die - doesnt effect performance or beam - but the drop in was free!!

Some of this is stuff to work in for jmac (rook, SC02, SL-3) the HD2010 is a trade I'll be making into a nice light for my little sis (she lives with us and her and I take our 5 dogs on hiking trips at night when no one else is out there) and the one I'm most excited about, the SA04, will be the most advanced light project I've ever taken on. I fully intent to utilize the touch screen (tho at first it might only be a display) as well as the tint mixing and RGB featured (tho NOT with the factory RGB emitters).

Look like sci-fi movie props.

I picked up my SR51 yesterday, very nice light. The only minor negatives I can find are the pinkish red bezel o-ring and slightly squishy switch cover.
Title: Re: What did you get today ?
Post by: Cereal_Killer on September 03, 2014, 02:22:03 PM
When your ready for it to do 200k (with am XM doing >1400Lm) and have an awesome UI let me know. My SR51 is one light I'll never sell, a little large to be one of my most used lights but when I'm going out in the woods or need a 100% throw it off a cliff and have it still work light the SR51 is top pick.

The red color bothers me some too but the design of that gasket is so much better than a simple o-ring, no concerns about it leaking at the bezel ever. I think the SR52 has either a blue or black one, wonder of they're the same size and if olight will sell them.

I was too busy yesterday when the mail got here but I also got an OSHPark order.

My RGBW clicky, Matt's RGBW clicky (1x7135 per channel, these use the same chip and pinout as my driver so I got 3 of these for testing purposes), BLF 17dd_PIC v1.0.

I haven't bought from them in quite some time.  I would think that the narrow frosted would actually give the best color mixing since they are individual TIRs.  Slight blurring to blend the colors better.

From what I've found (using reflectors) the best way to do it is to get the beams directly on top of one another, if you can do that diffuser film (frosting) isnt required.

It would not measure my 1.5f (1,500,000uF) caps, I was hoping to use it to find 2 perfectly matched ones for a battery tab welder.
Those are incredible little gadgets.  Where did you get yours?  I've seen them for under $20 but I can't recall where.  I think it may have been ebay.

Nitecore EA41 got here after a long delay at the EMS facility in china, it'll be the revised version of my TK45 pukelight that the CPD will be evaluating.

(http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/1badv8dime/Killer%20Lumens/66A39A0E-60FF-444B-96D0-FAE62C136A05.jpg) (http://s452.photobucket.com/user/1badv8dime/media/Killer%20Lumens/66A39A0E-60FF-444B-96D0-FAE62C136A05.jpg.html)

It's actually a much nicer light than I expected (and I have owned 3 EA4's). I may do a mini review of it, notable there's no visible PWM on any level and tho the light never got hot (and took ~30sec to even get warm) it maintained its output completely flat from 10sec to 1 min (when I stopped, it was a quick test right out of the box cause I heard the heatsinking was questionable).

Very nice! I realize the output hardly dropped but the body not getting hot at all tells me the heat sinking is bad. That just doesn't make sense.

Your absolutely right, I opened it up and "heatsinking" is a joke, nothing short of horrible. So bad in fact I'm not going be able to use an XML-color in the stock reflector like I had planned, instead I'll be adding a huge aluminum* HS (my machine shop buddy actually owes me some work) and using 3*20mm TIR's (shaved to 18mm).

*using Al cause of the weight savings over the usual copper.

I'm definitely doing a mini review, it will actually be my first ever.

Also got my new return address labels.

I would lol but I actually got these free so can't complain...

Gonna use them in some personal projects and as a test bench color option so I don't have to wire up 4 emitters every time I need to test.

Oh also gonna be gifting a RGBW_clicky setup to WarHawk (thanks to an anon. donor who saw me mention that he had helped me out a bunch and paid for a driver for me to send him and I'm gonna hook him up with one of these).

Great day today!
This morning I picked up my box of A6's at the PO and came home to start building, then this afternoon the mail man brought me lots of goodies too.

First from my machinist buddy the HS for the proto EA41_CK (35mm triple with huge bump in output from factory driver and NiMH)

He also hooked me up with a nearly 3lb block of Al for another text bench heatsink.

Then from Mtn I bought out his XML colors (the ones I hadn't already bought lol) and his 105c springs. Also got 3 KK's and a XM-L2 and a pair of Maxtoch 26's

And here's the very first finished production light, I promised the very first light to a gun that asked specifically for the first one. The rest of them won't have this large a gap at the head.

Short one is mine, top is a stock one (waiting on its turn on the operating table)

Build and sales thread to follow, out of the initial 5 only 2 are left available.

I got movement today. There ready to leave Hong Kong. Whoopee. Another six or so weeks and they may arrive. I just love being excited.

Today I got this EA41 is for an EA41_CK, some random MCPCB's I needed, MT-G2 (which is on an MT20 but was supposed to be on an MT16), big digikey order for lots of MCU's and XP-E2 color's, a couple XM-L2 colors and the medium 35mm LEDIL cute-3 for this EA41-CK (pukelight and standard EA41_CK's both use the narrow / "spot" 35mm triple cute which is what I have on hand so I had to order this one special for a guy what wanted a wider beam in this EA41_CK, only the spot and medium lenses are available , to get the wide you have to order a bunch).

(http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/1badv8dime/Killer%20Lumens/C7A5E3EB-B7E7-4A2E-AC1B-3E86323E5F0B.jpg) (http://s452.photobucket.com/user/1badv8dime/media/Killer%20Lumens/C7A5E3EB-B7E7-4A2E-AC1B-3E86323E5F0B.jpg.html)

If you're wondering EA41_CK is a highly bumped up stock driver with triple XP-L swap (with the giant 6061 heatsink I had designed). It runs exactly like stock (just increased current). This is a light I'm selling on a local forum I'm on for people who only want to use OTC batteries*

*If using OTC cells you MUST use L91's, DO NOT try alkaline's! As always NiMH's (such as Eneloop's) are highly recommended.

What I got today was to install this by myself then take a nice long hot shower for the first time in ~60hours.

Yesterday I came to home to find my DQG Tiny 26650 review sample waiting for me.  What a freaking sweet little light!  It's a little chode!  Not all that much bigger than a 26650 cell but super sharp looking.  I'll give more details in my review.  It's not perfect but for the money it's a great light and a great performer.  This should give gobs of runtime in any mode but high.

SR Mini... Yuno moonlight?!
Yeah man!  Can you believe it Cap'n?  I was a bit taken aback by a compact flooder like that not having a good low moon mode.  Mine arrived with a flaky driver that eventually shit the bed.  I will be replacing the driver with a custom FET driver with 7 modes ranging from moon low to full DD (about 4000 OTF lumens).  I've delayed sending mine to Olight to be fixed as I'm disappointed in the fairly low turbo mode and momentary on fuction of turbo.  THat and no moon low.  It will be so much nicer with  the new driver in it.  ;D

I got this Maxtoch DX21 clone (LZZ-01 @ FT (https://www.fasttech.com/p/1663800)) as the host for my newest super awesome Killer Lumens light, it will run dual XM-L2's, one CW one WW, at about 4A each (7135 based) and will allow fully custom tint mixing. Its a surprisingly nice light for stock (other than the UI and the super CW XM-L's) but the build quality is good. It's still gonna be a little bit before I have the driver layout done and have to take this apart (its a extremely advanced driver, even for only being linear running 7135's so I'm gonna hopefully do a review on it (tho I have been so busy recently I dont know if that can happen). The driver is really advanced (as well as the FW), there is a necessary 3'rd PMW out (and actually a 4th that's used for a battery monitor red/green LED) but each channel get's 1.5 PWM input's (the shared one goes threw a series of BJT's) to allow the entire tint shift ramp to be linear. Oh yea and there is a awesome list of other functions including set hard levels (always retains your tint shift saved position), a brightness ramp and a few strobes including ones designed specific for bike use (one light always on, the other flashing for a more visible headlight without effecting how well you can see) and some other's.

Also got 50 .380 7135's and 4 of the 10 I ordered XP-L V5 2A's (the other 6 were shipped a day after)

5 x 32650s after 2 months on the water along with a couple of D1 LGs. The XML-2 U3 leds and MTG-2 Q0 are from IOS looks like l will have to do some testing first before I use them. All these except the 18650 batteries are for the shocker reflector build.

And finally also from IOS my first mini triple set up. Nichia leds are here. I have had quite a few of these leds but never got the chance to try them. What sort of host and driver would you suggest? They are a lot smaller than I envisaged.

Notice the supfire A6's on the screen, tho package from myLED that was supposed to be two of them from a recent sale came containing about $7 worth of super cheap shitty chargers

Also (may have already posted this but really like the pic) last week I got a sheet of xml color sinkPAD's.

This is the host for my LEDENGIN LZ1 365nm UV emitter (which I ordered at the same time from mouser and it's still not here). Notice how close the CF wrap matches my Sebenza.

Those two look great together, Dan!  How are you liking the SF CF light?  My original thought when I first saw one was "what a stupid damned idea".  Let's take a light with poor heat sinking to start with and wrap it in an insulating layer of carbon fiber so it looks cool.  Might look cool but I highly doubt it runs cool. :(

Got a ton of stuff today (8 packages) but all of it was pretty boring (all was components or OSHPark boards) except this. My first personal TN series:

Big plans for it- it'll be my hunting light for this year. Also Ill be the first person I've seen using an LEDENGIN LZ4 in a flashlight- a deep red (740nm) in a 55mm reflector. It's a 10v LED so that's why I choose to convert this light to single emitter since the 3 factory LED's are in series.

Also not something I received today but really just had to show this off somewhere.
RGB S10 using modified DrJones FW and 3 wide spectrum color rebel's, a lime, a cyan (that I had them find one that was especially blue) and a red-orange. Makes a much truer white than using RGB CREE's.

I got a JAX Z1 for $35, it's the first light I've got myself in a long time, it's also the first zoomie I've ever wanted.

I actually got it yesterday but just got it built last night, it's a pretty impressive little light. I wonder if I could add a secondary optic to make it be fully focused while it was still shorter.

About 2.5 amps on high, 5 modes, always starts on high and the older gen XML emitter. The lens appears to have an AR coating on them. I'll have to look up old posts and see what others have done with them.

Driver is resistor modded to the very limit of still having modes (that's 0.006ohms of total resistance)! Literally, if a spec of conducting dust lands on the driver and makes contact across the resistor stack and I loose modes lol. I've also got a set of brand new IMR's for this thing! Can't wait for my one more SinkPAD from Dale (I broke one of mine sizing them down to 12mm and Dale came threw with a hookup!)

I've just walked out of Cutter Electronics after trying to get out the door for half an hour. They have all sorts of led bits and pieces that we just dont hear about. Talk about knowing how a pig in s___t feels. Yeah I was just a little excited. I put a couple of cash offers in hoping to walk out with some experimental parts but was kindly told not today.
This is the much awaited for XHP70 N4 bin 5000k 1710 lumen led straight of the roll thats just come through the door. The aluminium star is direct path which according to djozz testing is nearly as efficient as the copper star.
The reflector is for the MCE which should break up the star pattern and make a nice compact little flashlight.
For the guys overseas talk to Mark about shipping costs. If the right amount is spent shipping costs are about comparable if I was buying items from the US.

Nice stuff, there, Steve!  I am so jealous that you can actually walk into Cutter's B&M and buy without the crazy shipping fees that keep me away form their web store.

What will you be putting those bits into or are you going to make another custom build for it all from scratch?

A couple days ago I received a package from Lumintop with 2 new lights for review.  An TD15S and a ED20-T, both tactical/firearm lights.  I was going to show them mounted on my Mossberg 500 Chainsaw but I just found out that I'll be getting a new shotgun I can put them on - a UTAS UTS-15.  W00T!

Today I came home from a road trip to Virginia so a buddy could pick up a custom Harley he just bought. On the dining room table was a stack of 3 boxes from ThruNite filled with flashlights and a couple different chargers.. My collection of every light they sell is almost complete! :D

While I was sitting and going through the batch of lights I heard my assistant playing gleefully behind me with one of his toys.  Unfortunately it was not one of his toys and what I found him with was one of the Archer series lights I will be reviewing.  After chasing him around the room I managed to get what was left of the box out of his mouth and rounded up the light along with the accessories scattered about the floor.  Here is the guilty looking little rascal with what was left of the box and light.  Emmett, what do I pay you for???  You're a horrible assistant!  Thank God you're cute.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has problems with four legged assistants. It looks like you did get the light back in time before any major damage done. Good luck on all the testing.  :)

Got a special package from Johnny last week. You know when you spend too much time playing with stuff to get any work done? that's been me lately :P

The Rustu is a no frills but built like a tank, rock solid light. I'd say it would actually be a great light for rugged outdoor work. Single 26650 with 4x XML emitters so pretty bright and capable for a single cell light.

The DDT40, is just wow! super fun and pure Sci-Fi through and through. Deceivingly small too and insanely bright! Johnny measured a legitimate 3600 Lumens out of this on startup and it shows.
I can honestly say I really would not like to get strobed by this beast :P

Output vs size, this has to be a contender that's right up there with some of the best of them surely.

The TN12.. Johnny knows I've been after a good small form factor light for some time now and this one perfectly fits the bill. Solid build quality and with a NW emitter with a good CRI I love it, especially the easy, no fuss User Interface.  :D

My pleasure, brother!  If anyone deserves it you do. You do more behind the scenes both here and on TVF than anyone realizes.  :)

Those are some fine pics, too.  I forgot how big that Rustu is for a 26650 light.

What a generous offer from JM to spas. Hearing about generosity like this puts a smile on the dial.  :)

I received a Fenix TK51 in yesterday's mail.

The seller was kind enough to throw in a Nitecore Tube, as well :-)

I can hardly wait to take this outside some place where it can really do its thing.  Running on three 18650 batteries, it has two individual emitters (each, capable of producing 900 ANSI lumens), housed within individual reflectors;  1 flood; 1 spot. You can combine any combination of flood and spot, simultaneously, for best results.

It's kind of trippy-looking.

I'll need to get better pictures of this thing, when I get around to it (too lazy, now lol).

That TK51 looks interesting with that small side-light. :)

The small-headed reflector is the dedicated flood light, while the larger one is for throw.  It kind of reminds me of HP25 headlamp (which I also own), which uses the same principle - although at much lower power levels (I'm using Duraloops in that one).

The combination of the two beams is extremely effective.  I like that there is direct access to either, or you can just turn them both on simultaneously, with a single button, returning to whatever power mode each light was set at previously.

The new WL-S4 arrived in today's mail.   What a powerhouse of a light (2600 lumens)  - and beautiful tint, on top of that :-).  Not too surprised, with that ginormous reflector.  Very nice light.  I only wish I had bought more lol.

I used that E50 (in the background) to ceiling bounce the light in back, and a Fenix PD40, in front, to do the same, up front.  Very little camera flash was used.

The MT-G2 is not known for throw, since it's such a large emitter; but, combined with a large head, it does the job. The rating is supposedly at 380 meters.

Very nice, David! I love the MT-G emitter but have just 3 lights with it.

It's funny that just 3 years ago 384m of throw would have labeled a light a thrower.  The best stock throwers had just 78kcd and if your light could hit something 450m out it was an object of envy.  Seems to me the definition of a thrower should never change.  Its just that the throwers have just gotten better.

Thanks! I have this, and the Fenix PD40,  but am drooling over the Eagletac MX25L3, also in the MT-G2 version. I think that's next on my MT-G2 wish list lol.

I hear ya! I want that Eagletac too.  Compact MT-G goodness. :D

I have a Fenix TK35UE and am wholly unimpressed with it.  One day I'll swap out the driver with a custom FET. ;)

Nitecore's got that P36 light, which looks very similar to the TK35UE (form factor), but employs the MT-G2 LED, with a rating of 2,000 lumens, with a 300 meter throw.  Being the huge Nitecore fan that I am, I'd really like to get my hands on that one too :D

Yeah man! As soon as I finish my cigar I'm heading inside to round up and charge all my cells then tonight I go out to the R/C airfield for some beam shots and video of my more powerful lights. ;)
