This is the upgraded version of the TC12 , with a few added features the older model did not have , such as the battery level indicator on the side switch and the onboard USB charging. The TC12 V2 also comes in both cool and neutral tints.
The TC12 V2 is another very well built light from ThruNite with excellent fit , finish and overall performance. The knurling on this light is very nice and very grippy and I really like it (personal preference) The threads are very smooth and very well cut (although they were overly lubed) that is easily resolved with a quick wipe. Anodizing on the sample I received is also near perfect. The TC12 V2 also has manual lockout with 1/8 to 1/4 turn of the tailcap and direct access to strobe from any mode by pressing and holding the side switch for about one full second.
The TC12 V2 also comes with the Thrunite 3400 mAh cell included.
I forgot when showing the charging in the video , the tail switch needs to be set to the “ON” position before starting the charging in order for the light to charge properly , so it showed the purple flashing indicator in the video , which means “error”. The charging DOES work as it should on my sample when it is done correctly , as I have charged the light a few times with the onboard charging.
The only 2 negatives I found with this light is , the side switch indicator does not come on in the firefly mode and only engages in low or above modes. The second thing is that if you stay in any mode other than firefly for 5 or more seconds , you cannot simply go to the next level (low to medium or medium to high and so on) as the light will go back to the firefly mode after the 5 or more second pause. If you want to go to the next higher mode it must be done in 4 or less seconds to prevent starting over in the mode order and having to scroll through all the modes again.
